A Small Brag.... And Black Meets White.

As you all know we were off to the Ballarat Pet Expo yesterday. It was the first one held here and all the money went to relay for life so a worthy charity to support. My friend Christina sells dog clothes yes the dress I have for HIlary came from her. I wanted to catch up with her and her partner Fab. She has Pomeranians three of them Monte, Sooty and Kali all dressed up to show off her range of clothes. At anyrate we arrived promptly sat down and started to chat. She also did a roaring trade with her clothes which is wonderful for her.

George was a bit unsettled at first and then no problems. He socialised with a beautiful Standard Poodle, a Belgian Shepherd, Tibetan Mastiff, three White German Shepherds, A sheep and goat both on leads, a Foxhound and heaps of small dogs including Christina's. He accepted pats from everyone from all age groups I was asked several times what he was one lady came across got down on her knees and hugged him her first dog was a black shepherd and she had never seen one since she went to the bridge I swear she had tears in her eyes. He took everything in his stride he was amazing. I got asked a couple of times if he were a Belgian shepherd but no he is a German Shepherd.

I also found out that on Friday my nurse came I missed him and he told me this morning that George was going nuts barking and growling. He went to the back gate to pat him he knows George well but there was no way in hell george was going to let him in the gate or come near him. He said to me you have one hell of a good guard dog there he was really protecting your house. What else would you expect he is a German Shepherd isn't he? So to say I have a smile from ear to ear is an understatement I have had George for over ten weeks now and life would never be the same without him now he is just precious to me.

An they can be the gentlest also, which can be very rewardin to watch ...

Whenever anyone brings up GSD's I always think of Pepper.
She was our family dog when I was teen. She was mostly my brothers dog. (the one who died) and she was a dog who made everyone appreciate what a dog could do and be.
She was almost everyone's friend. She was independant. Even tho we lived in a suburb, she went where she thought she was supposed to be at that time. She knew when the "kids" were at the hang out spot and she was there. She was a "rock " dog. Rocks were her life, next to "kids"
She survived a rollover in the back of the pick up my brother was driving and got right to him to make sure he was ok.
She roamed the town during a hurricane with my brother because even then, he was self destructive. She was very protective of him. I think if shew could have lived fore4ver, he would still be around!! He would never deserted her like he did us.
My brother was a maintenence person, part time at a vets. They became good friends, back then, they took dogs out back and shot them, I know, horrible.
Pepper would never come in in the winter. She wanted to be in her doghouse! We couldn't make her come in for anything! Crazy dog! She was so damn special. I was sooo mad at my brother when he put her down without telling me. I was married by then and never got to say a last goodbye.... She had bad arthritis from such an active and HAPPY life!
Pepper did not get shot, thank god.
Just not fair. She was about twelve..
I think about her alot because she was the best dog I ever knew.

Lorie that bought tears to my eyes... she sounded like a wonderful dog and that would have been hard for your brother to do. I hope they are back together now never to be parted again.
