Jumpers trial
I am so excited we have our frist jumpers trial next sat and we are as prepared as we are going to be....Biscuit knows his stuff and if I can keep him focused on me and not on what is going on in other rings we might have a good chance of making a round. If not we will always have the following weekend to have another go and also do our second obeidence trial....
I have decided to do jumpers for 6 months and keep practising agility at home as he has not quite got the follow on to the next jumps contacts ect and we are not so good at the weaves yet.

I am sure Biscuit is going to do the same thing...hehehehe. If I can get him over the frist one we might be ok but sometimes he just goes around it!
Jumping would not be to good for labs would it? I mean with there heavy bone structure?

Re: Jumpers trial
Not as babies no but adults would be fine as long as their joints are good. German Shepherds do jumping as well. Wish you all the very best in your trials and jumping hope the weather is not too hot either.

If only it was that easy...hehehhehe. I don't mind anyway really or though I would like him to at least no run off out of the ring but this trial is a learning curve for him and me.
Thankyou for the well wishes.
Oh we have a beautiful german shepard who dose agility at our club and he is very good but we don't have any labs so I was wondering that was all... We do have a great dane doing it as well and 2 afgahs and lots of border collies a couple of cav's and a few mixed breeds plus Biscuit.... We are a very interesting bunch I tell ya!

Re: Jumpers trial
Yes I know that is why hubby built all of my stuff. Each contact is about $1000 and we made all 3 and the pause table with paint for just on $1000 and hubby built some gates for the dog club and they gave me my tunnel which was $320 and then we built all the jumps from scrap and the pvc pipe came from the dump....Recycling to its finest...heheheheh. The only thing shop bought was the hoop and I got that at the RSPCA shop for $60 so all in all I am happy we got away with it much cheaper than if other people made it ect We added it up for insurance and replacement cost would be $5000 that is just crazy!
Would love to see Natalie doing agility so please pictures when you start. They love it so good luck.

I thought that might be the case. I was taking to a friend today and she has a australian bulldog and she said that she would be to heavy to do agility and would put to much stress on her bones and joints from the landings.

Re: Jumpers trial
yes they dont cope to well with heavy landings and bulldogs have such heavy bodies and short legs the pressure would not be good

Re: Jumpers trial
Lorie I met the most beautiful male standard poodle yesterday at the pet expo. He was gorgeous but nothing compared to Nat and Mingo. Told her about you and your pink poo's and she just rolled her eyes what is it with people. I wish I had photos of your girls with me to show off. I tell everyone about Nat and Mingo.

Re: Jumpers trial
Well we did our first jumpers trial yesterday and I had a blast. I was so worried about him playing zoomies that I kept calling him to me and we lost time but we got a clear round and most of all he had fun. We also entered open jumpers which has weave poles and distance work but it was just for an extra run and he did wonderfully we got the weaves although slow and he stopped at the tunnel and had to be told again and he was not good with distance but we had done nothing with distance and that course was huge and you had to do it in 39sec? Crazy judge...........all the fast dogs seemed to knock down bars and I didn't want to teach Biscuit bad habits so we took our time. I am trying to up load them to youtube when that happens I will post the link.
We are doing it all again next weekend and obeidence....hehehhehe
