importance of microchipping
We found a little poodle today running so fast down the road with his tail between his legs because of the storm on its way.
We drove down a few meters in front of him to catch him as he was headed towards a main road.
He was so fightened but I always have a spare lead in my boot so i used it and put him in my car.
I took him straight to the vet to check if he was reported missing and to see if he had a microchip.
He did have one and his owners were contacted. They were very worried. They had been out on the streets looking everywhere for him. He was 15kms away from his house where we found him.
His owners came so very grateful for me picking him up. Rupert is 13 years old and very frightened of storms.
Please everyone get your dog micro chipped. We found Ruperts owners 20 mins after finding him. They were so grateful they gave me a $50 reward for saving their pet.
If he wasnt microchipped they would never have found him. They do not know how he got out of his yard but with all the thunder anything is possible!
At least this fopund pup had a happy ending!

Re: importance of microchipping
ALL dogs micro chipped and accounded for same with my cats.
I dont think i could live with my self i lost my dog like that.
We found two staffies same situation the storm gave em a scare and the miro chip found them back home safe and sound in a matter of hrs.
On the other hand we found a malteese and it took us 2 days of searching to find who she belonged to.
Well done for keeping a lesh handy(I sould really so that) we a prone to finding strays.

Well done for being resposible and helping the poor scared little thing. When we rehome any of our greyhounds they are all microchipped and I love it I think it is the best invention ever..dogs can loose there collars but they cant loose there chip...

Re: importance of microchipping
The vets do microchipping and some shelters offer discounts. The chip is the size of a grain of rice and I would think they feel it but I have the sookiest male greyhound and they just put a treat infront of him and while he was eating it they put it in and he didn't even know. Good luck

Re: importance of microchipping
Sorry should of had my brain working I should of answered your question sorry. I have seen it done and it is quite a big needle (has the chip in about the size of a peice of rice) and they just insert it between there shoulder blades and all done. A bit like there yearly vac but you only do it once.

Yes the needle is big. Angel did yelp when she had it but she yelps at vaccinations too... she is a sook!
They put it between the shoulder blades and it doesnt hurt after and its there for life. We have micro chipping days held by the council and its $20 for the needle..
Vets do charge more here though

Re: importance of microchipping
Oh i think Mingo could handle that.. she's good with shots but when she got spayed, she acted like an invalid for a few days after. ....of coarse, I started it... Big eyes... {Mommy, I can't get up on the couch, a littlle help please??}
{Mommy, I don't think I can handle the one step down to the potty area....}
If she happened to get away, I know everyone would know where the Pink poo lives, but I'm gonna do it anyway.. thanks for the kick in the right direction...
