Herbie and his itch!!!!!!!!!!!
Well the year of pollen has started again and Herbie has started his itching
He now has an ear and eye infection...
So off he went to the vets yesterday much to his disgused.. we have to shower him when he comes in from a walk or give him a good brush to get rid of any pollen..... I know that the furniminator comb has help get rid of the undercoat hair and that has made him feel much better... but at the moment he is looking very unhappy ... so much so that a chap who saw him on his walk this morning thought that he was twice his age as he plodded along beside JJ
I've also orderedsome glucosamine with extra vitamins as have notice his back legs look a little wobbley ... so hope that he wont be prone to arthritis when he gets older......
Poor Herbie he does seem to get everything and thats terrible when he is a bit of wimp too

Re: Herbie and his itch!!!!!!!!!!!
Herbie is 7.9kg..
I wonder if he didn't come from very good genes
His brother (who lives just round the road from us) had the allergies when they first got him but seems ok now but he is a skinny little thing and his joints seems to be ok)

It's aweful when they can;t tell us what's wrong.
Poor Natalie got her face shaved close and ended up with clipper rash.. (I didn't do it) I noticed it getting red and put stuff on it right away...

Aww bless her..
Herbie has been full of beans today...
He has been charging around all over the place which I was so happy to see...
It was mums day today when we go and do all her housework and I bath her and he just loves her garden ..he sits on guard all the time incase the neighbours pesky cat comes into the garden

Re: Herbie and his itch!!!!!!!!!!!
I know about that I have been trying to encourage the birds in the garden and even got a new bird table but I have to make sure Herbie is in ..
Yesterday I got really excited as had to two ring necked doves on the bird table they were so big the table was swaying to and fro

Re: Herbie and his itch!!!!!!!!!!!
Bethany has also developed a HORRIBLE itch NOTHING has been working..
Liz if he get really bad you can give them a palaromine tablet.. Beth has 1/4 and she is 4kg so herbie would have about half of one.. The are little red allergy pills.. They are not good for all the time as they do knock the dog out but it gives them a bit of relife for 24 hrs and helps them settle the itch...
Also i find Baby powder/curash nappy rash powder are a GODSEND!! the powders settle the itch almost instantly..
Bath in an oatmal shampoo and use a oatmeal contioner for the skin..
If i do all thos things for beth AND walk her on concreate NOT grass she is no where near as bad...
Hope he gets better for you.. Little beth is about to turn 10 and she has had her first signs of sore legs as the weather hear cools down the vet said best thing is to keep the weight off, and make sure she has short walks dailly to keep the muscle up and glusomine tablets and PLENTY of warm soft beds(which i am SURE King herbie has hehe)

Re: Herbie and his itch!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Emma...
Are Palaromine tablets antihistimines? he has something called piriton which is very good..
That's a good idea baby powder never thought of that one
I've just started giving Herbie glucosamine BUT he is overweight so he is now on a diet.... (my son is the worse for giving him treats ...I can't get it into him that as he is small it is so easy for him to get overweight quickly)

He He....
I think I may have got it into my son last by saying that his weight may be the reason why he is having trouble with his joints as he has more to carry around..(mind you that may be my trouble as well ) cos I heard him say last night..'no Herbie you can't have any you are on a diet'

Re: Herbie and his itch!!!!!!!!!!!
No I mean, I do not look at Nat and Mingo cause I can't stand to see the looks of starvation on their faces
Poor, underfed, neglected doggies. Ya, right. Mingo will sit by me like a statue, not blinking or moving until I am done eating
