She will need antibiotcs from vet. Its a shame these dogs get this virus but it does clear up. They sometimes get it from when they are being desexed and the tubed used down their throat has been previously used by an infected dog. They reuse equiptment to save money as most are non profit organizations. Its a shame but your dog will get better. Keep him isolated from other dogs as much as possible until he is better if you can.

I agree she will require antibiotics and this is a highly contagious disease, dont be surprised if your other dogs come down with it as well. No it cannot infect humans.

Re: KENNEL COUGH
I work in kennels and Kennel Cough unfortunately is quite common. This is due to a number of reasons:
Firstly KC is just like a human flu, once one person gets it everyone in contact with this person will soon get infected too.
Secondly it is an airborne virus and therefore very hard to keep under control. For this reason I would recommend not taking your tenterfeild terrier out in public places for at least two weeks.
The flu itself isn’t that bad and could probably be fought off by your dog alone, however it is highly recommended that you do get medication for your dog to stop a secondary infection occurring which is the main reason why vets put dogs of medication for KC as a preventive for secondary infections.
Most C5 vaccinations cover certain strands of KC however this doesn’t cover all strands but is useful to minimize your terrier getting cough again.
Hope this helps
Ps. How good is this website!! So much better than others. So glad I came across this forum group. I was going to make my own until I found this one. Whoohooo! Will tell all of my friends in the pet industry!
