OK so i owen 2 Eclectus parrots Imp(male) Lexie(female)

These birds are feed on a diet of..

Fruit:Apple,Pear,Orange,Grapes,Watermelon,Bananas,Mango(Special treat lol)..etc
Vegies: Beans,Peas,Bricoli,Frozen veg, Carrots, Sweet corn....etc
Seed
Fruit and nut mix
Oats.

Ok so i think i have the diet coverd pretty well right?? Very Happy

The problem is that the birds seem to be thin i can feel there breast bones very well on Lexie but i can see it on Imp.

I have wormed them recently so i can't be that.

Any ideas. If not i may have to take them to a vet they are fed well so i dont see why they would be Skinny.

Our major Mitchelles are fed on the same diet and are a nice weight???

Any body............ Ideas .............please

Hi.....How much do they fly because sometimes when they are over active they stay thin even with the best diet.

get them to an avian vet, they should not be showing signs like that, no matter how mush exercise they get, there is a problem and if not treated urgently can be disastrous, its in the birds mechanism to show no signs of illness until its almost to late.

I croc.

WE have done alot of reasearch and we think it is the diet. They need alot more fiber and protien than we have been giving them. very comlex diet if you ask me. We will work on a new diet and see if there is any change if not then we will go to the vet.

thankyou for you concern and i will let everybody know what happens.

Are you feeding them grit??? Because birds can not digest there food and they need girt to break it up in there tummies so that could be an issue to!

I breed indian ringnecks and they get golden cob which has the grit in it but I don't think that is enough so I always have an extra dish full so if they require more than can eat what they want. I hope all goes well for your feathered family.
