what is wrong with some parents?

this has really ticked me off!!

my sister her bf and her 5 kids came to visit today,and the 2nd youngest is petrified of dogs
chloe cam out the front were we all were,and he just screamed with fear
the child is 2 yrs old and never has een aloud to have any contact with any animal other than the baby bird they now have!!
he was screaming so i grabed his hand and took him to the screen door!
chloe was on the other side of the door locked inside so it didnt make the kid more scared etc
i grabs his hand and put it up to the door and let chlo lick his hand! he pulled away but i kept at it!
after a few forced trys he was standing there 4 and hour just playing with her through the door and letting her lick him etc
i said the father who hates dogs,fleas,dirt,germs etc why is he so scared?he goes because i dont let them touch animals
anyways i told him just coz u dont like em dont make ur kids the same!

i told him these days ya cant be scared of dogs because they are every where and i dont want my nephews to be petrified of my dogs....

Can't imagine a life without animals.. Is the bf, himself scared??

Oh the poor thing i hate that to even if they don't want pets them selves at least find a friend or family member to vist with one.

I feel sorry for peple that cant have the companionship of a dog or any pet for that matter.

no not scared just hates the smell,germs,fleas etc

they use to own 2 maltese terriers before they had kids,not uite sure what happened there also had a shepherd cross which i found in their garbage bin!!!!!! (very many yrs ago)
which he said some one baited with rat sack but i think he killed him!
oh and a pedigree german shepherd which got picked up by the pound and they didnt even bother about him
i really hate how he talks about my dogs!calls them mutts,stinking barstards etc!
but as i said to him just because you dont like anmails dont make your kids hate them too

It's horrible when people raise kids to view animals as being disposable that is how we get so many in pounds. they get a pet get sick of it and ditch it. grrrrrr

hopefuly i can teach them different as they get older
but i only see them once every blu moon so will be hard!

do they teach or tell kids in school how to treat animals etc??
i no they had the agriculture thing with sheep etc in high school
i think schools should teach things about animal crulety

I work in a school with little kids, they have a program where someone comes in with their dog and children read to the dog. It's a sheltie, other teachers bring in their dogs for the day as a reward...

Does your sister and her hubby understand that by having pets they are strengthening their immune system. Keeping them germ free is never going to keep them or make them healthy. As for their unnatural response with dogs, this is where you come in let them get to know your dogs. What you did was right. What the parents are doing is wrong. As for the maltese yes your right it is only teaching children that dogs are disposable and you can buy one and get rid of it stuff the consequences. I feel sorry for those children never knowing the love of an animal but mores the pity when the adults never have or even loved a dog. What a sad world they live in.

well as i said i only see them once in a blu moon so maybe once every 6 months and they all ways have contact with my dogs because i dont lock them up or nothing!!

Your right its an accident waiting to happen and who will pay the ultimate price the dog.... people like this really make my blood boil... I hope their children grow up to love dogs and end up with them as adults and when they have babies have dogs around their children. Such a shame. Glad your around to give the chance to see what dogs are really like and the opportunity to be loved by a dog.

yes but my main consern is that they wont come here at all if this child gets more scared of my dogs
i wont lock my dogs up for anyone but i also dont want the child to be traumatized by it
the father is a germs free person and the kids rarely go out side to play!
i just dont agree with their parenting at all :S

No neither do I perhaps a compromise is due... however their father sorry if I insult you sounds like a total nutter.

geez....people must let children socialize with pets...
A frriend of mines little girl was terrified of dogs. When we had the pups i put her in the middle of them when they were about 4 weeks old.. now everytime she comes over she wants to play with the puppies. I just didnt let her carry on scared and didnt pay any attention to her when she carried on.
