Have you put an add on petlink? I think there is a guy called david at glasshouse mountains who breeds them. He bought my abby babies last year because I had really unusual colours. I know he has nice himmies have seen photos of them.

Hey Beth,

Not sure if you want a baby but there is a 12 month old lilac Abyssinian boy advertised on petrescue. Here is the link:

http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/48164

There could be more lilacs listed in other states on but I only checked Queensland.

I know zilch about cavies but they look so cute. The ones I have seen in real life (not many) seemed quite skittish. So was wondering what there temprament is generally like? What are the babies called?

Good luck with your search. Smile

Hehe. I saw that the males are boars and females sows and wondered if the babies could possibly be piglets. I like pigwees, so cute.

I didn't even realise they had them on petrescue at all but I did a google search to see if there were any for sale and I found the petrescue link through the Australian Cavie sanctury.

How do they cope with travel? What is the furtherest you would get one from?

They actually cope very well, Jess form the ACS..Australian cavy sanctuary sends them interstate alot.. She will send them anywhere in oz aslong as you can prove that the home you are giving them is worth the effort and sometime you have to wait as she sends them in Lots........

I had no Idea there was a rescue for them either LOL was bored about 2 years back and came across them on petlink LOL

Now i am down at Jess's Brissy rescue almost every week lol for food, and seeing the adoptables LOL..
What they do for the little tikes amazes me after finding the rescue "A guinea pig was nolonger a guinea pig" to me..

the ACS has hundreds of guinea pig for rescure each year.. with shelters in both brissy and NSW... I am shocked that somebody can hurt such and tiny creature
